Quarterly Review Meeting- Turbat Resource Center Balochistan Rotary’s Participation in NID Turbat, Balochistan January 10-11, 2016

The Resource Centers at Turbat and Buleda are situated in southern Balochistan where population is scattered. The Resource Center in Turbat is located inside the main bus terminal in the heart of the town whereas Resource Center at Buleda located near Pak-Iran border.

A Quarterly Review meeting was arranged by Turbat Resource Center.  The staff of both the centers attended the meeting. Reviewed the performance of the staff and identified gaps.  The LHV informed that during the quarter 374 children were given OPV.  The team informed that they are participating in NIDs and covering travelling children from different bus terminals in the town and supporting polio teams by social mobilization in difficult areas.

The progress of the quarter was discussed. Following gaps were identified;

1)      Coverage of missed children need to improve

2)      Increase coordination with district EPI.

3)      Extend outreach to other UCs

4)      Cover children in transit at other points in Buleda

5)      Timely reporting

Visited EPI office Turbat and had a meeting with Dr. Abdul Khaliq, Deputy District Health Officer, Dr Shabbir Ahmed WHO and Abdul Lateef Focal person EPI , discussed December NID and coverage of missed children. It was informed that 2700 children were reported missed during last NID, however 1600 were covered after the campaign. Also planned to participate in NID begins from today January 11, 2016with the district Government.

Along with EPI team and Rtn Dr Saleem Baloch visited two sites where polio teams administrating polio drops. Met with polio workers and motivated them to cover missed children in their areas.

At the end again had a meeting with WHO, EPI. They requested Rotary to provide shelter for polio workers to protect them from harsh summer winds. They were informed to send their request through EOC Balochistan.
